This can be considered a Seche dupe and I would say it is almost as good as Seche. Which says a lot as I have so many top coats I have trouble finishing any of them. However put it against the likes of Seche, Poshe and Essie and it pales somewhat in comparison as it dries a bit slower and is a little less shiny looking once dried.Ĭhina Glaze Fast Forward – I actually finished a bottle of this. Fast drying and glossy albeit with a rather thin formula. Orly Polishield – This was recommended to me by my regular nail polish shop when I told them about the thickening issues I experienced with Seche. Unfortunately I just could not get it to work on me. And the reviews on Makeupalley back this up. Cheap as chips, easily available, dries quickly and has a shiny finish. Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat – This is the one which made me realise that there is no one top coat that works for everyone. A great alternative to Seche if you are concerned about the presence of certain chemicals.

Poshe – This is similar, almost identical, to Seche in that it is a super quick drying, thick, glossy top coat with one major difference, this is free of toluene. To read up more on toluene, please refer to this article by emedicine. So far so good. Please do note that this contains toluene which may be a concern to some of you. To fix this, I use Seche Restore (pictured above) to thin it and top up the bottle with my large salon size refill. It does however thicken halfway into the bottle and once it gets to this stage, it can cause shrinkage of the underlying polish. It is also great for Konad as it does not drag the Konad stamped image when applied (more on that later). It is thick enough to provide adequate leveling of rough glitter polish, dries fast and has a great glossy finish. Seche Vite – This is one of the most universally popular top coats and for good reason. Due to the thin formula, I would not recommend using this with Konad. The solution to this I’ve found is to ensure that there is a large bead of top coat on the brush so that the brush does not directly come into contact with the nail. The only con I can think of is that the formula is rather thin which means if you were to layer it on top of freshly painted polish, there is a risk of the brush dragging the polish underneath. It dries fast, has self leveling properties and yields a smooth glass-like glossy finish. Unfortunately the drugstores in Hong Kong stopped carrying Sally Hansen and I was forced to look for other alternatives to Mega Shine and to my surprise, some of the them beat Sally hands down.Įssie Good To Go – Can’t say enough good things about this top coat. It was thick enough and dried fast enough but I felt it didn’t give me as glossy a finish as Mega Shine or some of the others below.

It also gave a smooth mirror like hard finish which made every manicure seem like a professional one.īuoyed by my initial success with Mega Shine, I also tried Sally Hansen Insta-Dri which is a favourite amongst many. Now we come to something that I can’t seem to stop buying – top coats! Ever since I discovered my first quick dry top coat, Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine Extended Wear Top Coat, I have been hooked on painting my nails as it meant I no longer have to wait hours for my polish to dry. For those with slightly more yellow undertones like myself, Essie’s Brooch The Subject would probably be more suitable for that purpose.

On its own, this would be a great mannequin hands shade for girls with pink undertones. These swatches are of one coat of Essie Fill The Gap, 3 coats of T&B and one coat of Essie Good To Go. It did however take longer than usual to dry, even with a quick dry top coat and as such, do try to use as few coats as possible. The formula on this is good, thick enough to ensure opaque coverage in 2-3 coats and dries shiny. T&B is a light pinkish nude, very elegant on its own and beautiful under sheers. (Yes I do know the name is rather ironic given the title of my post.) Today I am going to show you one of my favourite nude underwear shades, Essie’s Topless & Barefoot. They are difficult to apply evenly and show my imperfect nails, uneven nail beds, staining, and all.īut there are some sheers that are just too pretty to pass up on and my preferred way of wearing them is layering them over an opaque nude polish, also known as underwear for nails.

I am not a big fan of sheer polishes (with the exception of a few like OPI’s In The Spotlight Pink which I reviewed here) for a variety of reasons.
